For those who don’t know him yet, Russell Jones a.k.a. Ol’ Dirty Bastard was an active member of the Wu-Tang Clan crew. Unfortunately passed away on November 13, 2004.
Quoting Wikipedia: “Arguably the most unusual and erratic member of the group, his wild behavior drew significant media – and often police – attention. Along with Method Man, he was among the most popular members of Wu-Tang with high sales and guest spots with industry giants like Mariah Carey.“
This work, as wrotten in the txt file included with the compilation, don’t claim to be his best work, it’s “just” a compilation of some of his finest old and new tracks. Over 15 tracks to listen, precisely.
Selecting the tracks we love, for sure you have to listen Intoxicated, with the participation of Wu bros Method Man, Raekwon and soul sista Macy Gray. Try to think to all the relative styles blended into a single track, and you’ll get the sound of it. Simply elegant.
Dirty The Moocher is one of the most Wu style track, with a great groove and samples from the 30′s. This track is also one of the songs used on the original score of Hoodlum movie (a story about two gangs in 1930′s Harlem, with Laurence Fishburne, Tim Roth, Andy Garcia and Queen Latifah).
One of the most famous on the hip-hop scene is Woo Hah (remix), featuring Busta Rhymes. If you know the groove of Busta, you already know what you’ll go to listen.
Don’t miss groovy Back In The Air featuring Ghostface Killah, and Got Your Money featuring Kelis. Simply delicious.
