Fresh Body Shop is an already knew artist here on Jamazine, already reviewed with his The Ugly Army about one year ago.

Today is here again, with a great acoustic album: Director’s Cut. It contains a touch of Trent Reznor singing and NIN atmospheres, blended with great indie rock groove.

We like to start with Twins, a nice country-styled with a great refrain on a acoustic-guitar-no-rhythm groove. We really appreciate it.

Next Home has slower rhythm, good arrangements and it’s really tasting, especially on intense moments. A perfect acoustic rock pearl.

And now, let’s increase the speed with Voodoo Doll, Translucid and the title track Director’s Cut. Three good and faster tracks to let you dance!

Fresh Body Shop is a veteran on Jamend. He’s not unknown to the peoples who knew Jamendo far ago.

Anyway, this production sounds good even if you already know his sound. It remembers the vocal style of Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, some guitar riff of Red Hot Chili Peppers and sometimes also the atmosphere of the 80s INXS band.

This 7-tracks album is really funny to listen everytime and everywhere: whether you listen it during your job or driving your car. Tracks are not so long, the average is 2:50 minutes, so they are very quick to listen.

The opening track My Artificial Sun is very fast and powerful, with a great guitar-bass riff. We really love it.

The Hunt is the one that remembers the Red Hot Chili Peppers sound, blended with the NIN style. Pretty curious.

We also really like Anything But You with its fresh sound and uptempo groove. It’s interesting also the guitar solo performing, played on a “stretched” way.

Well, it’s really a good album. We can consider it a must have on your pre-party playlist or your trip all around the world.

For those who already know Trent Reznor and the Nine Inch Nails, there’s no words to describe them, they are simply wonderful. It’s not music for the whole market and ears, but these guys really play music, not just sell it.

The complete album is a 36-tracks package, available in various music formats and with a 40 pages PDF booklet, and you can have it for just $5.

But also, there is the free version with the first 9 tracks of the complete release.

Quoting Trent:

This music arrived unexpectedly as the result of an experiment. The rules were as follows: 10 weeks, no clear agenda, no overthinking, everything driven by impulse. Whatever happens during that time gets released as… something.

The team: Atticus Ross, Alan Moulder and myself with some help from Alessandro Cortini, Adrian Belew and Brian Viglione. Rob Sheridan collaborated with Artist in Residence (A+R) to create the accompanying visual and physical aesthetic.

We began improvising and let the music decide the direction. Eyes were closed, hands played instruments and it began. Within a matter of days it became clear we were on to something, and a lot of material began appearing. What we thought could be a five song EP became much more. I invited some friends over to join in and we all enjoyed the process of collaborating on this.

The end result is a wildly varied body of music that we’re able to present to the world in ways the confines of a major record label would never have allowed – from a 100% DRM-free, high-quality download, to the most luxurious physical package we’ve ever created.

More volumes of Ghosts are likely to appear in the future.

From the 9-tracks free release we love the two melodic and relaxing ones: the opening 1 Ghost I and the closing 9 Ghost I. Also we really like the smooving 3 Ghost I, with Adrian Belew.

Directly from Delhi – India, thanks to Jamendo, we found out this indian Trent’s replicant.

This is an example on how a hard influence from some artist could be a good production itself, especially when the “clone” artist don’t make just a cover, but create his own production.

Amit is the one man band behind his project Etherdust, hardly influenced by NIN, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Ministry, Marylin Manson and Zeromancer. He has a good voice (sometimes remember Trent) and good composition, too.

Unfortunately the quality of recording is not so good as it deserves (it’s not so bright), but we trust to have a better one really soon.

The tracks we like are 24 because of its mix of indian vocal style and NIN sound, Hey God is the most ethereal of the album and Please that is a good electronic Trent-style track.

What more can we say about Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails?

We can say, for the ones who not know them yet, that NIN is Trent Reznor, even if now is a real band with lot of peoples and collaborations. Nine Inch Nails is one of the most creative and experimental bands all around the world.

If you loved movies like “The Crow” or “Natural Born Killers”, well, you’ll love NIN too.

The particularity of this album is that is the first completely released for free. Yes. Totally free.

The genre is the usual industrial rock, with the famous sounds of NIN and the cutting voice of Trent.

If you want to listen the typical sound of NIN, get 1,000,000, Discipline, Head Down and Demon Seed.

The most experimental tracks are Corona Radiata — the ambient one  — and The Four Of Us Are Dying — the one who reflects the experimental sound of Ghost I-IV —, both instrumental.
